Winter Warming With Glenlochar Kitchens

RIDGE MEADOWS DISH

February 18, 2012

While the wet weather outside might be better suited for ducks, the weather inside GoldenEars CheeseWorks is warm and toasty.  Georgina Sonmor from Glenlochar Kitchens is once again in the kitchen cooking up some amazing tummy warming soup. Today's 'Texas Tortilla' Soup is the perfect way to warm up while shopping for your weekly cheeses.

Seems a perfect marriage between GoldenEars CheeseWorks and Glenlochar Kitchens. Both are local, both believe in quality ingredients and both serve up delicious meal ideas for any sized family.

As you wander around the store, the sweet aromas of fresh baked breads *provided by Maple Ridge's Bread & Buns*, along with a fantastic selection of cheeses made right on site. You'll quickly notice a pattern in the offerings at GoldenEars CheeseWorks, in that, they have a large percentage of local products including Glenlochar Kitchens which is based in Surrey.

Georgina, as perky as she always is, was in the process of getting the amazing "Texas Tortilla Soup" ready for serving up. She was very excited to be sampling a little taste of this delectable soup to chilly customers. Can't say I blame her.  Today is a perfect day for soup and considering that it's low in fat, high in fibre and freezes like a dream. It almost whispers in your ear 'Try me, you'll love me'.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that GoldenEars CheeseWorks also has fresh Cheese Curds available and Jenna was prepping french fries for the ever popular French delicacy of Poutine! Oui, Oui s'il vous plait!

Stop in to GoldenEars CheeseWorks and say 'Hi' to Georgina and the crew working hard today.

Remember to Shop Local, you'll be amazed what you can find in your hometown!

Pitt Meadows is 'Stomping' for Coffee

Nestled nicely amongst the 'Tudor' style homes in the newly developed Osprey Village, is the Stomping Grounds Coffee House.

The Stomping Grounds Coffee House opened it's doors on April 4th 2011 and hasn't looked back. Owners Dylan and Anahi English took their vision of a 'community' based coffee shop and turned it into what you see today.

The Coffee House is perfectly situated alongside a pedestrian path and dog friendly park on Barnston View Road in Pitt Meadows.

Stomping Grounds is proud to serve the 'fair trade' Salt Spring Island Coffee brand. They also serve up several different local food merchants to tempt your palate. The large bay doors give it a bright and airy look and they even have a 'little stompers' area for children to play in.

The Stomping Grounds Coffee House also has catering available for any party needs whether large or small.

Open 7 days a week, starting at 730am Monday to Friday and 9am on the weekends (closing at 530pm all week). There is plenty of parking available and even more bike lock up areas.

While enjoying a steamy cup of 'java',  why not stroll across the street and check out the new South Bonson Community Centre or grab a blanket and sit and watch the sunset.

You can find them on Facebook as well as their own website and be sure to check out their event page for weekly entertainment at the Coffee House.

Glenlochar Kitchens Pays A Visit to Golden Ears CheeseWorks

Glenlochar Kitchens Pays A
Visit to
Golden Ears CheeseWorks

Sunday morning, while everyone was getting their 'Grey Cup' parties all prepped and ready for guests, the new owner of Glenlochar Kitchens' Georgina Sonmor was cooking up some Wintery goodness in the kitchen of Maple Ridge's Golden Ears CheeseWorks (22270 - 128th Ave)

Glenlochar Kitchens started in 1991 and it's newest owner Georgina Sonmor is thrilled to be providing quality soups that are 100% Canadian. With varieties like Beef & Barley, Country Chowder, Dill Pea and a very hearty Stonehouse Soup as well as five others, Glenlochar has something for everyone. Located in Surrey, it's sure to be a hit with the 'shop local' foodies.

The savoury aroma from Beef & Barley soup filled the store beckoning customers to try a sample. All the soups are 'Low fat, No Trans Fat, No Cholesterol and are a very high source of fibre'.  The soups come dry packaged and the consumer just needs to add just a couple of ingredients and it's great for the stove top or to make ahead in a crock pot.

So the next time you are in Maple Ridge, be sure to stop into Golden Ears CheeseWorks for some incredibly fresh cheese (just released Farmer's Cheese) and a box or two of Glenlochar Kitchens Soups.  If you can't make it, Glenlochar has a fantastic website and toll free number to get you connected.
