TIP OF THE DAY NOV 1 2011

Today being 1-11-11 seems like a starting point to begin again. To wipe the slate clean, make new goals and close doors to no where. We are entering a month full of reflection, remorse, remembrance and rhetoric (last one unfortunate due to elections). I encourage everyone to take a moment between now and 11-11-11 to pick one project that would benefit the community you are in and do it. Food bank donation, volunteer somewhere, hold the door for someone. Be a glimmer of hope, a shining star or a just a shoulder. 

On 11-11-11 make a point to Thank a Solider, Hug a Vet and remember that Freedom has a Price and it's been WRITTEN IN BLOOD

Start the New Year on the right foot, by laying a plate out with offerings to your ancestors who has passed before you. Light a candle and thank them for making you who you are today and reflect on sacrifices made and cherish moments that would go unmarked.

Fabric of universe

 Gazing at the stars within the fabric of the universe

Shining brightly for all to behold

Streaming to the ground being captured by a wish

Placed inside the heart for eternity

 The smile is the star reflecting outwards

Inspiring and invigorating its witnesses

Sharing its warmth and brilliance

Infecting all with a happiness unparalleled

Growing in intensity and radiance

Encompassing the surroundings

Keeping the strength of its lustre bold

Providing a light to the dimness of life

Looking into the heavens for the thread of humanity

Unravelling a portion for security and love

A never-ending fabric of stars and dreams

Kept together by hope and optimism

How big is your piece

Will it stand the passage of time

Will your fabric instill a faith or motivate another

Tie the loose ends to strengthen its resolve

Give some back from what you have taken

My Hero

Not a man with medals or wearing tights and a cape

Not putting out fires or nabbing thieves on the take

My hero is charming and caring

Enjoys the world and thinks nothing of sharing

 

A man of convictions, intelligence and grace

Who doesn’t really care that he has a messy place

Laughs at my jokes and wipes away my tears

Embraces me tight when I tell of my fears

 An ordinary man just trying to fit in

Not looking for love but my hearts he doth win

Traveling hand in hand throughout the days

Similar in interests and still different in ways

 My hero is my friend, my confidant and my lover

Shares my hopes, my dreams but hogs the covers

I give of myself and thank the stars above

For once a stranger is now my hero to love

Another Day

As a blanket covers the bed

So to do the clouds shroud the skies

Light fades sending the day a bed

Darkness engulfs the terrain below

Echoing in the loud silence

The cries of the wild sing out

A symphony to Mother Nature

Hailing her beauty and strength

The moon exudes its ominous luminosity

Playing hide and seek within the heavens

No glimpse of celestial brilliance

The stars fall silent in the shadows

With a final puff on to the flickering candle

Resounding goodnights exclaimed to all

All memories of the day diminish into slumber

The only voice is the whispering wind

 

Earth’s inmates sleep as an innocent baby

Comforted in the bosom of dreams

The blanket swaddles the soul

As Another day falls into eternity
