Coming Attractions - Must See Movies

RAVENBRAN'S MUST SEE MOVIE LIST

Every season, Hollywood blasts out movies to the markets like a cannon firing at "The Black Pearl". This season running into the early summer has a good selection of movies to hit every movie goers list.

The following are a few of my tips for must see movies:

Of course, these are but a few movies to choose from. Check your local theatre for your local coming attractions.

Thank You Bela (Köszönöm Bela)

It was the dawn of horror movies and one of the greatest actors to be part of that amazing genre was Bela Lugosi. Born in the absolutely fitting location of Transylvania in 1882, Bela would become the 2nd most famous son of the area next to Vlad Tepes aka Dracula (to most).  Moving to the United States was the key to making Bela one of my heroes. He would serve in the Hungarian Military as well as being a prominent actor in Hungary prior to his move.

In 1931 after the devastating death of Lon Chaney (another horror hero), Bela would find his signature role in the black and white classic Dracula. Bela broke all pre-conceived notions of a vampire. His dark mesmerizing eyes, thick accent (Dracula was his first actual English speaking role) and electrifying smile would make him one of the sexiest vampires ever created.

Becoming Dracula for Bela was a double edged sword. It brought him great acclaim and wealth (for that time), but it would also work against him in his ability to portray different roles in Hollywood. Every part he played would be compared to his excellence as the renowned vampire.

Bela passed away in 1956 at the age of 73 and was appropriately buried in one of his famous capes. His son Bela Jr, bears a striking resemblance to his famous namesake father and often visited the sets. He even recalls a visit to see his father in action in the motion picture 'Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein'.

Fast forward to today. As a horror fan and aspiring novelist, I've always looked to Hollywood for motivation and conceptual ideas. In my vast library of DVDs, a large section is all about Vampires and I have every Bela movie. He inspired me in so many different ways. From his acting, his political views, his fight for acceptance in his new homeland and for his dedication to excellence.

Bela Lugosi will always be remembered for being Dracula, but to me, he will always be my hero.

Nyugodjék Békében Bela!

TWILIGHT.BREAKING DAWN PT 1 MOVIE REVIEW

TWILIGHT BREAKING DAWN Pt 1 MOVIE REVIEW

'Twihards' are squealing with joy over the Cullen's return to the big screen. Breaking Dawn Part 1 is the beginning of the finale of the blockbuster Twilight franchise.

We enter to find Edward (Robert Pattinson) marrying his lovely mortal girl friend Bella (played perfectly by Kristen Stewart). The wedding ceremony and reception are fit for royalty and Alice Cullen (played by the delightful Ashley Greene) makes sure nothing is too much for Bella.

With the wedding under way, we see the dejected Jacob (hunky Taylor Lautner) changing into his werewolf form and running off in anger to 'Northern Canada or somewhere like that'.  Everything is about to change for the lovelorn trio.

Bella and Edward take off on their honeymoon where she is to become a vampire but not before the hilarity of the vampire-mortal wedding night bed destroying love making session. Robert and Kristen's chemistry is apparent and they exude it on the screen.

14 days have passed since their wedding and Bella discovers that she is pregnant. Not only is it unprecedented but dangerous for Bella as the growing baby takes over her body leaving her at the brink of death.

Can Edward turn her in time or will he lose his love and his life (the treaty now dissolved with the Wolf pack).

This movie delivers powerful emotions, powerful scenes and a potent punch in the franchise's pocketbook. Great scenery, phenomenal effects and stellar performances make this movie one not to miss this fall.

Priest my movie review

PRIEST

Movie Review
by
Sher

Directed by Scott Stewart

Starring Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q and Christopher Plummer

In a futuristic society where the Catholic church wields even more power then in previous centuries. The church created 'Priests' that specialized in vampire killing. Based on the graphic novel. Humans are told 'to go against the church is to go against god'.  they are under the guise that the priests have eradicated the vampires until word comes of Priest's brother (portrayed by True Blood's Stephen Moyer) that his wife is dead and his daughter has been kidnapped by a different type of vampire.

I give a **RAVEN RATING** OF 4 out of 5 claws
